Evening in Windsor

After a fun day out, we headed to Windsor. We were too late to get in the castle and got cought in a downpoor but it made for some good pics.

Next time, I'll plan to get there earlier and explore more.

The Air Forces Memorial at Runnymede

During our visit to Runnymede, we noticed a huge building on the hill overlooking the Thames. On the map in the parking lot we discovered that it was the RAF memorial to over 20,000 peoplo who died serving during WWII and have no graves. We hiked up to the top of the hill throught he forest and saw the beautiful monument.

It was a fitting memorial to all of those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.

It is a very moving place and certainly worth the climb.

I hope the photos give a little idea of this special place.

Runnymede, the Magna Carta and the JFK memorial

Hello again,

Here are some pictures from Runnymede where the signing of the Magna Carta took place. We went last weekend and it was certainly worth the trip. It is up the Thames from London. I was very surprised at all of the American connections with park. The American Bar Association established the memorial, The Queen donated one acre of land as an American Territory dedicated to John F Kennedy. I was actually standing on American soil looking down at the Thames!
In the photo with the iron fence, the US is to the left.

Hope you enjoy!
