WALTHAM ABBEY

We drove over to Waltham Abbey on the recommendation of a kind lady in the church in Epping Forest. The abbey was the last to be dissolved by Henry VIII. The church that is left is currently used by the local parish. It is less than 25% of what was there before most of the other buildings were destroyed.
The church is amazing if not original. The Victorians did quite a DIY job on it including the Zodiac ceiling... I know, it's strange in a church but they didn't ask me...
The gardens and history are amazing.
Hope you enjoy!

The Church of the Holy Innocents - High Beach

The adventure of the weekend was another trip to Epping Forest to check out neighborhoods to possibly move to. We came across a beautiful church in the middle of the forest and decided to stop and take some pictures.
There was a very kind lady in the churchyard preparing the place for a wedding and invited us in to take a look at the beautiful stained glass. After we went in, she was nice enough to let us climb up to the bell tower and actually let us play the church bells. They were made by the same company who made Big Ben and the Liberty Bell. It was quite a thrill to actually stand in the bell tower and play hymns. I hope everyone wandering in the forest enjoyed it too.
Here are some of the pictures of the church and our little adventure.

And Back Home in the Garden... and some more Bubbles

Hello again,
Here are some more pictures from today. I checked on the garden and as you can see, it's coming along nicely.
How did those bubbles find me?
The glass ball is in the kitchen window. They were used in days gone by to keep out evil spirits. Folks believed that the spirits would be attracted to the color and get trapped inside. I hope it's working for me!

The Bubbles Day Out in Camden Town

Low and Behold!!! While out exploring Camden Town, I ran into the Bubble family again. They seemed to be very popular the last time I put them on my blog. I guess they thought I was just another paparazzi but when they figured out who I was, everything was OK.

Hope you enjoy again! :-)

(Notice the picture of the ones that burst! One of them looks like a hooded specter. Very frightening... :-0

Camden on the 5th of July

Worked on the 4th so we took advantage of a nice rainy morning to go to an American Diner. It was almost OK... Not worth a return trip. I guess the lesson is, when in England, stick to the Full English for breakfast.
The market is wonderful on a rainy morning. I think the magic happens when the workers are setting up and the crowds are not there yet.
It's the best time to explore most places.
