WALTHAM ABBEY

We drove over to Waltham Abbey on the recommendation of a kind lady in the church in Epping Forest. The abbey was the last to be dissolved by Henry VIII. The church that is left is currently used by the local parish. It is less than 25% of what was there before most of the other buildings were destroyed.
The church is amazing if not original. The Victorians did quite a DIY job on it including the Zodiac ceiling... I know, it's strange in a church but they didn't ask me...
The gardens and history are amazing.
Hope you enjoy!

Hi Kent,
It looks like you and I are the only bloggers who love Home By The River. It was a gift to my dad who lives in Georgia very near the SC border and loves the woods, creeks, and wildlife of the area.
Your photos are wonderful and I must admit I'm jealous of all the places you've been able to visit. Your blog is giving me great ideas for my trip to England.
thanks,
Holley

He Windycorner!
Yes, I used to collect his books and actually had a few that were signed. He was a cousin of my grandfather and my mother actually remembers visiting Hampton and staying for the weekend as a child.
Thanks for the comment and great blog!
