Lyndhurst was the starting off place for the adventure in The New Forest. They have a great welcome center with maps of the entire are including individual walks around the forest.
There is a great camping and outdoor shop with very reasonable prices and several traditional Tea Shops. We stopped at the Mad Hatter Tea Room with an Alice in Wonderland theme... why not? Good food, good prices and a little roof terrace for sunny days.

Mad hatter tea room how cute....hope you had scones with clotted cream and jam yummy my favourite, we get addicted to them when we go to Cornwall/Devon.
